Hi! My name is Barbara Ma, and I am a class of 2027 goalie with a deep passion for hockey. From the first moment I stepped on the ice when I was four during a family trip to Vancouver, I was immediately drawn to the unique challenges, responsibilities and joy that come with playing in net.
Hockey is my motivation and anchor, and there are countless times when I relied on hockey to get me through hard times. The lessons I've learned from hockey have shaped me far beyond the ice. I want to continue playing at the college level because it has been my dream, as hockey has been one of the most important aspects of my life. I am extremely excited to carry that passion forward into the next chapter of my journey.

Things I Like to Do Beside Hockey:
Ceramics
I’ve been taking ceramics since 7th grade, and it has always been one of my favorite subjects in school! I love how calming and hands-on the process is. The process of shaping something from a simple block of clay into a finished piece feels very creative and grounding. Ceramics lets me focus, relax, and express myself in a way that’s different from any other class. I’m definitely planning to continue with it throughout high school. Here is a small portion of my work!
Baking
I have always loved to bake and cook. Here are some of the pictures of the cupcakes that my friend and I baked for a baking contest that we ended up winning at BB&N!
Snowboarding:
Snowboarding is one of my favorite things to do. I have been snowboarding for over 7 years and wants to have a coaching license to teach little kids soon!
Scuba Diving:
Fun fact: I became a certified diver when I visited Thailand at 12 years old.
Field Hockey:
I played midfield--scored some, assisted some, ran a lot for the JV Field Hockey team at BB&N in 2024!
Crochet
I picked up crochet during spring break, and I have been making a ton of projects! Here are a couple blankets that I made (the first one is a Mother's Day gift to my mom). I also made a handful clothes and stuffed animals!
